Description

These Cheesy Gordita Crunch Tacos combine seasoned beef, melty cheese, and crispy shells for a delicious homemade alternative to Taco Bell.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 tbsp Taco Seasoning
  • 4 Flour Tortillas
  • 4 Hard Taco Shells
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup Iceberg Lettuce
  • 1 cup Tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 cup Taco Bell Spicy Ranchero Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the lean ground beef over medium-high heat for 5–7 minutes until browned, then drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water to the beef, stirring well for 1–2 minutes until combined.
  4. Lay out flour tortillas on the baking tray and distribute shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top. Bake for 3–5 minutes until melted.
  5. Remove tortillas from the oven, press a hard taco shell into the center of each while cheese is warm.
  6. Fill each taco shell with seasoned ground beef, packing it well.
  7. Top with iceberg lettuce and diced tomatoes, adding any other desired toppings.
  8. Drizzle spicy ranchero sauce over the assembled tacos before serving warm.

Notes

  • Ground turkey or chicken can be used as alternatives for beef.
  • You can make your own taco seasoning.
  • Consider flavored taco shells for extra flavor.
  • Substitute cheddar cheese with Monterey Jack or Mexican cheese blend if desired.
  • Shredded cabbage can be used instead of iceberg lettuce.
  • Salsa or pico de gallo can be used instead of diced tomatoes.
  • Use your favorite taco sauce or sour cream instead of spicy ranchero sauce.
