Description

This Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque is a rich, velvety soup made with tender shrimp, sweet lump crab meat, and a creamy, aromatic base.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 celery stalk, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups seafood stock or broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1/2 pound lump crab meat
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and celery and sauté until soft and fragrant, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle in the flour and stir constantly for about 2 minutes to form a light roux.
  3. Slowly whisk in the seafood stock until smooth, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add heavy cream, milk, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add the chopped shrimp and cook for 3–4 minutes, until pink and opaque.
  6. Gently stir in the crab meat and simmer for 2–3 minutes, just to heat through.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
