Description

Enjoy a festive breakfast with these warm, spiced gingerbread waffles, perfect for holiday gatherings or a cozy morning treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for serving (optional)
  • Maple syrup, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  3. In another bowl, crack the eggs and beat them lightly. Add the milk, molasses, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and whisk until fully combined.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently fold together with a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron to the desired temperature.
  6. If necessary, lightly brush the plates with melted butter or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  7. Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the center of the waffle iron (around ½ to ¾ cup). Close the lid and cook for about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Check for doneness; the waffles should be golden brown and crisp.
  9. Carefully remove the waffles using a fork or tongs and place them on a wire rack to keep crisp.
  10. Continue pouring and cooking the remaining batter, keeping finished waffles warm in a low oven (around 200°F or 93°C).
  11. Once all waffles are cooked, stack them on plates.
  12. Serve the gingerbread waffles with whipped cream and a generous drizzle of warm maple syrup.
