Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- In another bowl, crack the eggs and beat them lightly. Add the milk, molasses, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and whisk until fully combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently fold together with a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
- Preheat your waffle iron to the desired temperature.
- If necessary, lightly brush the plates with melted butter or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
- Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the center of the waffle iron (around ½ to ¾ cup). Close the lid and cook for about 4-5 minutes.
- Check for doneness; the waffles should be golden brown and crisp.
- Carefully remove the waffles using a fork or tongs and place them on a wire rack to keep crisp.
- Continue pouring and cooking the remaining batter, keeping finished waffles warm in a low oven (around 200°F or 93°C).
- Once all waffles are cooked, stack them on plates.
- Serve the gingerbread waffles with whipped cream and a generous drizzle of warm maple syrup.
