Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook for 4–5 minutes until crisp-tender. Drain well.
- In a large bowl, combine the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
- Add the drained green beans and 2/3 cup of the crispy fried onions to the soup mixture. If using, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges.
- Sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions evenly over the top and return to the oven for 5–10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving to allow the casserole to set slightly.
