Description

Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) red velvet cake mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease and flour a 10–12 cup bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, sour cream, oil, water, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until creamy.
  4. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  5. Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter, keeping it away from the edges.
  6. Top with remaining cake batter and smooth the surface.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the cake (not the filling) comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cake, if desired.
