- 1 box (15.25 oz) red velvet cake mix
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease and flour a 10–12 cup bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, mix cake mix, sour cream, oil, water, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until creamy.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter, keeping it away from the edges.
- Top with remaining cake batter and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the cake (not the filling) comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cake, if desired.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Can be decorated with additional cream cheese frosting if desired.
