  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup melted butter (for topping)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Drain the canned yams and mash them in a large bowl.
  3. Add brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, eggs, and milk. Mix until smooth.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, melted butter, and chopped pecans until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the topping over the yam mixture.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and bubbling at the edges.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
