Description

The perfect way to express your love this Valentine’s Day, offering a simple yet decadent chocolate treat that’s both easy to make and incredibly satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted) (2 sticks or 226g)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar (400g)
  • 4 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (65g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional) (170g)
  • Valentine’s Day sprinkles or heart-shaped candies (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large heatproof bowl, melt the unsalted butter.
  3. Once the butter is melted, pour in the granulated sugar and whisk until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips and press in sprinkles or candies.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
