The perfect way to express your love this Valentine’s Day, offering a simple yet decadent chocolate treat that’s both easy to make and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted) (2 sticks or 226g)
- 2 cups granulated sugar (400g)
- 4 large eggs (at room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (65g)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional) (170g)
- Valentine’s Day sprinkles or heart-shaped candies (for decorating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large heatproof bowl, melt the unsalted butter.
- Once the butter is melted, pour in the granulated sugar and whisk until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips and press in sprinkles or candies.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
